Endurance training can cause a reduction in resting blood pressure – both systolic and diastolic. This is particularly seen in people who commenced an exercise program with borderline or high blood pressure (hypertension). Endurance training has little or no effect on blood pressure during exercise. Systolic pressure still rises, and diastolic pressure remains relatively unchanged.
